Reclining Big Toe Pose (with a strap)

Supta Padangusthasana Start in Conducive Rest Pose, bring knee into chest and allow leg to oscillate with the breath, note the opening and closure of the inner elbow joint.  This connects movement with breath and allows the hip joint to soften.  Then strap foot and take to straight (think bent knee straight leg). Do not Continue reading

    facebook discussions on yoga

‘Darling, flexible people don’t go to yoga, yoga makes people flexible. If you’re breathing, and concentration on your breath, and finding the ease and joy in everything you do, you are doing yoga 10 times better to that of somebody in a full headstand, who’s more concerned with the fact they are doing the pose Continue reading

you are not what you think you are

It has become more and more apparent to me that the point of yoga is to transcend the human drama and come completely into the present moment. Easier said than done, but I’m convinced this is the liberation that has been dubbed ‘enlightenment’. We carry our past hurts around as if they justify who we Continue reading

    Winter Asana

With the onset of cold weather I have found my classes changing dramatically.  Students have less energy to burn and need to slow down.  Winter offers us time to rest, renew and restore our immune and nervous systems.  With the use of much loved props we are doing restorative asana.  Calming and replenishing.  Inversions stimulate whilst Continue reading

    Food Matters

http://www.foodmatters.tv/_webapp/Yoga%20and%20Meditation Food does matter,  yoga is a huge step toward holistic control and wellbeing, but with out the right food it is hard to move forward. This movie ‘Food Matters’ is wonderful, see it, try out a new way, a clean, green, organic way. I urge all Yogis to see this. Namaste Continue reading

    AssimINTERGRATIONilation – Tadasana

Tadasana, Dandasana and Balasana are the assimilation point in between work and action.  This is where the ‘worked’ part of the body finds cohesion once again with the whole. Shavasana is the assimilation of the whole practice. The synthesis of intention and action. The definition of Assimilation is’ to absorb’.  It is in the stillness Continue reading

    Asana and movement

More and more I want to move in Asana, feel it out, move around sensation, investigate, enquire. Finding a place where I can be breathed… A dance, Asana and breath moving in a dance toward stillness. ‘I took a deep breath and listened to the old bray of my heart:  I am, I am, I Continue reading
